The greatest thing about being connected 24/7 to the Internet is that you get to explore a digital world that has everything to offer such as pictures of cable cutter tools like the one here or the ability to stream movies. Also, if you need to find out something like what time the local hardware store closes you can just search for it online and you'll be given that information within seconds. The same goes if you need answers to burning philosophical questions or to find out which grocery chain has ground pork on sale this week.

While that's all well and good there are some dangers that come with freewheeling Internet surfing and if you're not all that careful with your surfing habits you might come away with more than you bargained for. Specifically, we mean computer viruses. There's nothing worse than happily searching the web for information one second and then having your computer go haywire the next because it contracted a virus.

Computer viruses are sneaky, insidious and always mutating and if you think you're computer's been infected the best virus cure out there is to use one of the many available anti-virus software programs (here are some options). Hopefully you already have an anti-virus software program installed on your computer and if you do all you have to do in order to clean your computer out is follow our virus cures step-by-step instructions and your computer will be back up and running smoothly in no time.

First thing you should do if you believe your computer has been infected is to remove it from the Internet and any networks it may be on. This is done so you don't spread the bug onto any other networks. Once you do that it's time to run the anti-virus software you have installed on your computer. From here things only get easier as all you have to do is follow the step-by-step instructions of your anti-virus program. The virus-scanning software will keep running until your computer is free of any viruses it may have contracted. Eventually the scan will end and as soon as that happens you can re-connect the computer to the Internet and the network.

The first thing you should do once you're re-connected is to see if your anti-virus software program is up-to-date. If it's not then download the latest updates and re-scan your computer again before you start looking up animal posters online. There you have it. Hopefully your computer didn't get infected too greatly from a lethal attachment that an anti-virus scan won't do the trick. If that's the case you might want to bring your computer into a computer repair shop and let them take a look at it.
